Last week, Cranberry faced a serious situation involving Columbia Gas, where numerous homes mysteriously developed gas leaks. The critical question here is: how and why did this dangerous situation happen? I’ve spoken with several residents who were forced out of their homes, and they all reported the same troubling experiences—Columbia Gas ignored requests for information and was painfully slow to respond. One man told me he had to wait outside his house for over three hours before anyone arrived. When the technician finally did show up, they simply shut off the gas and left without offering any further explanation or assistance.
Two days later, Columbia Gas claimed in a front-page article in the Eagle that they had no idea what caused the issue. This incident affected more than 70 homes in the Fox Run Road area, and it's clear the responsibility doesn't lie with the homeowners—it’s with Columbia Gas. Sadly, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, raising serious questions about their ability to handle such potentially life-threatening situations.
There needs to be a deep investigation involving Cranberry Township, Butler County, and our state representatives to find out what happened and why. We cannot afford to turn our backs and act as if this is acceptable.
