It’s incredibly frustrating and disappointing to hear that Congressman Kelly is supporting a lawsuit to prevent overseas ballots, including those of military personnel, from being counted in Pennsylvania. This action feels like a direct attack on the rights of those serving their country abroad, along with their families and other U.S. citizens working overseas. As someone who dedicated two decades to the United States Air Force, I find this completely unjust. Military members and U.S. citizens abroad should never be stripped of their ability to participate in elections simply because of where they are stationed or work.
Equally concerning is the silence from other elected officials, including Rep. Scialabba, on this crucial issue. In moments like this, it’s critical for leaders to defend the voting rights of all citizens—especially those who have served our nation. I call on all elected officials and candidates to stand up for the protection of military and overseas voting rights, and I ask the public to hold them accountable if they do not.
